On the Goods and Dimensions tab, the Airfreight description of the goods is recorded.

This includes, among other information, the number of packages, the weight and the contents.

The dimensions and dangerous goods data are also entered.

Enter package line

Attention: The 1st line of the goods description must be a package line!

By entering a number and a weight, the so-called package line is automatically created.

→ Dimensions and dangerous goods data can be entered for EACH package line.

Field description Goods and dimensions

FieldDescription
TXT

Activate the checkbox TXT to open a text line.

You can now enter text across the entire line (up to 100 characters).

Piec.Enter the number of pieces into the field Piec. (=Pieces)
WeightEnter the actual weight into the field Weight.
k/l

Please note: The field k/l is pre-assigned with [k] = kg.

Please select [l] if the unit of the weight is pounds/lbs.

C

Rate class - see Select rate classes.

Jump to the next field by pressing the TAB key.

I.   If the automatic rate determination is active, the program tries to determine the airfreight rates and enters them immediately if available.

II.  After step I, you will automatically be located in the dimension area.
    Enter your dimensions.
CargoSoft calculates the CWT = ChargeableWeight and enters it into the goods description line.

III. If the CWT changes due to the dimensions, the automatic rate determination will be performed again.
→ Only for first entry of a file/dimensions.

Rates (IATA rate, net rate and customer rate) in the goods description can either be determined automatically or entered manually.

Comm.

Enter the commodity code into the field Comm., which will be printed on the AWB.

CWT

= Chargeable weight

Decimal places are displayed according to the programmed rounding, i.e. one place after the decimal point with rounding to 0 or 5.

PC

Enter the packaging code in the field PC.

  • The packaging code is important for the form print.
  • The packaging code is pre-assigned through the basic data. The preallocation can be edited.
Code

For the field code you can record  commodity matchcodes with goods descriptions in the basic data.
These matchcodes can be selected in the field Code.

→ This field is also important if you would like to consolidate dangerous goods and/or oversized goods together with general cargo.
Please enter code DGR for dangerous goods and OVL for oversize.

→ The text that appears in the field Nature of Goods can be edited.

→ The entry of this code is crucial so that the program inserts one line in the consol goods description per code when compiling the consol.
Separated by STD (standard), DGR and OVL.
In the Consol you can enter a different rate and net rate per line.

→ The program also uses the field Code to determine the HAWB that the costs for DGR and/or OVL surcharges will be booked on when creating the automatic CASS accrual in the consol.

→ This field is also used so that other charges marked as DGR or OVL are automatically transferred to the Other charges tab.
I.e. billing codes marked DGR or OVL are only pre-assigned on the Other Charges tab if the code DGR or OVL has been entered.

Instead of the code DGR you can also enter dangerous goods on the Hazardous Goods sub tab.

Summary of the Code field:

  • Preallocation of the field Nature of Goods
  • Separation of DGR, OVL and STD for the consolidation of the consol file
  • Determination of other charges relevant for DGR and OVL
  • CASS-accrual: Booking of other charges on the respective HAWB
Nature of Goods

The field Nature of Goods is a text field.

You can enter the rate class, rate and nature of goods in every goods description line (not text line).

Enter consignment description

Consignment descriptions can be entered in the field Nature of Goods

This field can be filled by entering a free text, selecting a code or a text module → pls see below.

The contents are printed in a block (left aligned) with the description of the package lines in the AWB.

The print mirrors your entries.

Enter text lines

In text lines you can freely enter text across the entire line.

To turn a line into a text line, activate the checkbox TXT.

Here you can enter upto 100 characters per line in proportionally spaced font.

Please note that the lines may therefore be of different lengths.
→ Proportionally spaced font: X is wider than I.

Just like the Nature of Goods field, text lines also provide text modules (AWB texts).

Dimensions sub tab - enter dimensions

You can enter dimensions for every package line.

After you have entered the weight in a package line, the cursor jumps to the volume line in the lower section of the goods description on the Dimensions sub tab.

These are mandatory fields (here: highlighted in green).

f you would like to enter the dimensions at a later time, simply delete the blank line.
Later, select context menu Add line to create a new dimension line.

After you have entered the dimensions, the program calculates the volume and with it the chargeable weight, which will be compared with the recorded actual weight.
If the CWT is higher, the calculated CWT will be inserted into the field C-Weight

The volume ratio is loaded from the Air parameters (1:6).
If an airline requires a different volume ratio, it must be changed accordingly in basic data AIRFREIGHT → CARRIER.

Dimensions entered in this mask will be printed in the AWB depending on the print parameters. However, the program also calculates and considers the available room.

Before starting to enter the dimensions, select the unit of the dimensions in the field cm/in - cm is pre-assigned by default.
You can alternatively enter the dimensions in inches (in).
→ The unit must be the same in every line.
If you start entering dimensions in cm, all following lines must be entered in cm as well.

Use several dimension lines

If you have entered more than one package, dimensions can be entered separately per package.

Press the TAB key to open another volume line until you have reached the number of packages entered above.

Select the context menu entries Add line or Delete line to make subsequent changes.

The sum of entered packages is displayed below the dimension lines.
This is for information only.
You cannot enter more packages than recorded in the package line.

Column cm/in: CBM vs. dimensions

Authorization object: cbm or cuft are only available with the authorization ENTERABMBYCBM.

Instead of dimensions you can also enter cbm or cuft.

To do so, enter cbm or cuft in the field cm/in.

The field cbm appears.

The chargeable weight will be calculated based on the cbm entry.

Delete dimension lines

Dimension lines can also be removed.

You can either delete single volume lines or all entered lines by using the context menu.

To delete a single line, click into the line that you would like to delete.

Attention: We recommend to always enter the dimensions in the HAWB to enable the calculation of the chargeable weight in the consol and distribution of CASS accruals.

If errors have occurred during the entry or if you would like to enter the dimensions at a later time, you also have the option to delete the line and later add a new line via the context menu.

Restore deleted dimension lines

If you have deleted a volume line and would like to restore it, select the context menu entry Undo.

Select a single line or all lines (with the button Select all) in the Restore mask and confirm with OK.

→ The selected line(s) is/are inserted back into the order.

Select Add line in the context menu to add another volume line.
This function can be selected until you have reached the number of packages of the package line.

Deleted lines can be restored until the file has been saved.

  →

(Not) print dimensions in the AWB

The entry of dimension is crucial for the calculation of the correct chargeable weight and the rate determination.

Dimensions are printed in the AWB by default → The field Print dimensions on the AWB Control tab is pre-assigned with J.

If you would NOT like to print dimensions in the AWB, you can change the Print Dimensions field accordingly.

Hazardous goods sub tab

For more information about the entry of dangerous goods, see Dangerous goods data in the Airfreight order.

HS codes sub tab

Airfreight export files have the sub tab HS Codes. Here you can enter the corresponding HS codes per package line.

Double click on the field HS number to access the basic data (SEAFREIGHT → DAKOSY → HS CODES). Manual entries are also possible, but they are not checked against the basic data.

The HS codes are transmitted during eAWB transmission.

HS codes are processed with code NH in segment RTD (good sdescription) the FWB message. The FHL message also provides the segment HTS.
